Thank you for sharing your joy with us over Sam and Ryan’s happy news (“Front Porch: Wedding plans are happy news for mother,” column by Stefanie Pettit, Aug. 2 in Voice sections). Would that all parents could experience the same pleasure as you without prejudice and judgement. We live in a time when social norms are changing and every facet of our world needs to both recognize and accept these changes. From my experience young people have no trouble doing so, it’s we “oldsters” who do! Congratulations for defying our mindset!
