Argos Men’s Basketball Preparing for Cactus Classic

The University of Providence’s men’s basketball team is preparing for a big rod swing. Three of those games will be at the Cactus Classic in Arizona this weekend. The Argos are currently 8-2 overall, and 1-1 in Frontier Conference play, and coming off a 114-89 win over the University of Alberta- Augustana Vikings last week. But they’ve done so without a huge part of their team in Jaxen Hashley. However head coach Steve Keller says that while Hashley is a big part of the team, it’s been nice to see others step up in his absence, especially in these long stretches of road games.

“Well, we’ve been on the road most of the time, and we talk all the time about playing harder on the road than we do at home. We had Carroll down by 18, and we won at Rocky, and we did that without Jaxon Hashley who is injured. Our guys have really pulled together early on and it’s been really good, but we just hope to get better every day,” said Steve Keller, Argos Head Coach “I think it’s just everyone is buying in to the system. I think Coach is implementing a lot of the things we need to work on defensively, playing together offensively, and that’s just the biggest impact in our games right now.” Brandon Cotton, Argos Jr. Guard added. The Argos begin the Cactus Classic on Dec. 15 against Ottawa University Arizona at 2:00.
