Blood foundation board awards seven grants

The board of directors of Blood Center Foundation of the Inland Northwest has awarded seven grants.

They are:

Five-year education grants will launch the Inland Northwest Blood Center and Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine George W. Schneider Jr., M.D., Medical Student Summer Internship Program in Transfusion and Transplantation Medicine, and the Inland Northwest Blood Center and Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science Doctor of Pharmacy Student Summer Internship Program in Transfusion and Transplantation Medicine. The former will receive $55,000 over the five-year grant; the latter $60,000.

The Inland Northwest Blood Center and Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science Ph.D. Internship in Transfusion and Transplantation Medicine will receive a $15,700 education grant.

The Inland Northwest Blood Center Human Leukocyte Antigen Laboratory Director-in-Training Program has been awarded a two-year, $251,600 education grant to help with its launch.

The hematology program in the Eastern Washington University Biology Department has been awarded a $65,000 technology grant.

Inland Northwest Blood Center received two grants: $29,750 to be used toward technology for its Transfusion Services Laboratories Bi-Directional Interface and a $9,465 education grant to help with attendance at the 2018 American Association of Blood Banking Conference.

CdA Casino schedules career fair for July 25

The Coeur d’Alene Casino will host a career fair later this month for food and beverage, golf, gaming and hospitality positions.

The fair will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. July 25 in the casino’s Ponderosa Conference Room. Interested individuals are asked to complete an online application before the event.
