Pac-12 women’s tournament: Oregon rolls past Colorado into semifinals

SEATTLE – Oregon freshman Satou Sabally adjusted quickly to conference tournament play.

The 6-foot-4 forward scored 21 points and Lexi Bando added 19 to help No. 6 Oregon beat Colorado 84-47 in the Pac-12 quarterfinals Friday at KeyArena.

The Ducks, the regular-season conference champions, will face No. 9 UCLA in the semifinals.

Oregon (28-4) led 45-18 at the halftime and used a 22-0 third-quarter run for a 77-37 lead entering the final period.

“I was just impressed with our energy on both ends of the floor, defensively and offensively we were on point,” Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. “We spread the floor. We were shooting it well. The right people were getting the shots. It was just a really good game. I told them after the game they were inspiring.”

(9) UCLA 77, California 74: Jordin Canada scored 27 points and the Bruins held the Golden Bears scoreless for more than two minutes down the stretch to escape the quarterfinals with a victory.

Mikayla Cowling’s pull-up jumper put Cal up 69-68 with 2:40 remaining, but the Bruins responded with six consecutive points, going up 74-69 on two free throws by Canada with 38 seconds left. Kianna Smith hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Cal.

(16) Stanford 69, USC 59: Kiana Williams scored 18 points and Alanna Smith scored 14 and the Cardinals defeated the Trojans in a quarterfinal.

Stanford will play Arizona State in a semifinal.

Arizona State 57, (10) Oregon State 51: Courtney Ekmark scored 18 points and the Sun Devils held the Beavers without a field goal over the final 5:14 to rally to a victory in the quarterfinals.

Arizona State missed its first nine shots of the fourth quarter, but the Beavers managed just a pair of baskets for a 50-44 lead.

Kianna Ibis finally connected for the Sun Devils with 3:38 remaining, triggering the game-ending 13-1 run. Ibis’ jumper from the lane put Arizona State in front 51-50 with 2:02 left.

Ibis hit a jumper from the left side to make it 53-50 with 1:08 remaining and the Sun Devils closed it out from the free throw line.
