Whitman County four-car crash blocks roadway with vehicle fire

During a construction flagger stop, a semitruck crashed into a car, causing a chain reaction in which three cars were hit. The crash, 8 miles south of Rosalia on U.S. Highway 195, sent two people to the hospital Tuesday at about 11:34 a.m. The extent of their injuries was not available.

The crash, which included a vehicle that caught fire, blocked the road for about an hour, according to a Washington State Patrol alert.

Edward Driskill, 40, of Moscow, was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center, and Margaret Bingaman, 81, of Rosalia, was taken to Whitman Community Hospital, according to a news release. The driver and passenger of the fourth car were not injured, as well as the driver of the semitruck.

The driver of the semitruck, Robert Cathcart, 55, of Spokane, was cited for alleged second-degree negligent driving, according to the news release. No alcohol was involved.
