Spokane Valley firefighters knock down duplex fire

Firefighters doused a house fire Monday afternoon on the 700 block of North Steen Street in Spokane Valley.

A resident of the small duplex on fire had tried to put out the flames with fire extinguishers and a garden hose. But with heavy smoke and flames visible at the front door firefighters from the Spokane Valley Fire Department were called.

No one was injured and fire crews had the fire extinguished within five minutes, according to a press release.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
