Man receives critical burns in Browne’s Addition RV fire on Saturday evening

A man in his 50s was taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical burns after an explosion in his RV in Browne’s Addition on Saturday night, the Spokane Fire Department said.

The Fire Department doused the flames near Second Avenue and Oak Street just after 7:30 p.m., according to a news release. The man received his injuries attempting to rescue a dog that was in the vehicle, which caught fire after attempted engine repairs, said Spokane Fire Deputy Chief Jay Atwood. The dog died in the fire.

The man was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center and then transferred to the burn unit at Harborview in Seattle. His name has not been released.
