Relationship with God
In October, I celebrated Mass at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia, Kauai, in Hawaii. Inside, I saw two signs at the foot of the statue of the Blessed Mother. One sign asked to pray to end abortion, the other for equal justice for pre-born people.
A week later in South Carolina, a Catholic priest refused to give Holy Communion to Joe Biden because of Biden’s position on abortion.
Pro-choice Nancy Pelosi in a press briefing last week declared that she does not hate President Trump due to her Catholic upbringing. In July 2018, in Colfax, Lisa Brown said she was raised Catholic and is pro-choice.
Let’s now connect the dots. First, I do not believe a person can be pro-choice and in turn have a relationship with God. You cannot have it both ways, in my judgement. Secondly, people who don’t have a relationship with God, again in my judgement, are not religious people.
Finally, I submit the words of John Adams, one of our founders: “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Bingo.
