Riverview Retirement Community adding more housing for memory care residents

Riverview Retirement Community is building additional housing for memory care residents.

Spokane-based Bouten Construction will build three, one-story duplexes, which will each be more than 3,700 square feet in size. The duplexes, proposed as part of an expansion to the existing retirement center, will house up to 36 memory care residents in 18 double-occupancy rooms, according to plans filed with the city of Spokane.

An existing residential building will be demolished to make way for the new development on an acre of land at 2315 E. Upriver Drive. Plans also call for a new driveway, landscaping and parking.

The project will cost from $500,000 to $800,000, according to predevelopment documents filed with the city.

Riverview Retirement Community was founded in 1959 by area Lutheran congregations and is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church. It provides health care, memory care and independent- and assisted-living services on its 32-acre campus.
