Freezing rain has caused multiple school districts on the West Plains to delay the start of the school.

In Spokane County, the Cheney, Medical Lake, Reardan-Edwall and Great Northern school districts announed two-hour delays Thursday morning.

Other districts that announced delays include Davenport and Quincy.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective until 1 p.m. for areas that include Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. It warns that roads may be slick because of freezing rain and up to an inch of snow.

By 6 a.m., Spokane’s deicers and sanders were out on arterials, hills and bridges. No major collisions were reported.

Along Interstate 90 in areas between Ritzville and the Idaho border, roads were expected to be icy. The weather service recommended avoiding traveling between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Trooper Jeff Sevigney, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol, reported there were some weather-related crashes Thursday morning on area highways.
