Spokane man charged with abusing infant, causing potentially life-threatening injuries

A 24-year-old man was jailed early Monday on suspicion of abusing his 2-month-old baby and causing potentially life-threatening injuries, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Beau R. Jones was booked into jail shortly after 3 a.m. on a charge of first-degree assault of a child, with bond preliminarily set at $1 million.

Charging documents were not immediately available, but in a news release Monday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said Deputy Andrew Richmond responded to a hospital emergency room shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday after the infant arrived there with severe injuries.

Richmond spoke to Jones as well as hospital staff, and called in detectives from the sheriff’s major crimes unit. The child’s injuries remain under investigation.
