Middle school’s STEM efforts lauded
Riverside Middle School has been recognized as a Project Lead the Way Distinguished School for its work to provide STEM learning opportunities to its students.
Project Lead the Way is a nonprofit organization that provides nearly 12,000 schools around the country with Gateway teaching units for grades PreK-12 covering a variety of STEM and career skills. Only 148 middle schools in the country have been named a Distinguished School.
The award is based on the 2017-2018 school year and to be considered for the honor schools had to offer at least one Project Lead the Way Gateway unit at each grade level, have at least 50 percent of the student body participating and have 25 percent of students advancing to high school participate in two or more units during their time in middle school.
