Body found in Spokane River near Camp Sekani Friday morning

The body of a woman was found Friday in the Spokane River near Camp Sekani.

At about 8:30 a.m. a body floating in the Spokane River was reported, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded and secured the scene.

A forensic unit, major crimes detectives and emergency operations team responded to collect evidence and recover the body.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner will release the name of the woman along with cause and manner of death when appropriate, according to the Sheriff’s department.
