Idaho State Police investigating death in Lewiston jail

An inmate was found unconscious and pronounced dead Friday in a jail in Lewiston, officials said.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office said the person was being held at its Adult Detention Center. Paramedics were called and pronounced the person dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

The Idaho State Police is investigating the death and will release the person’s name after notifying relatives, the sheriff’s office said.
