Spokane public defender to compete tonight on Jeopardy!

Kate Allison, a public defender from Spokane, will compete on Jeopardy! on Thursday.

The show airs at 7 p.m. on KHQ.

Allison will be the latest in a long line of Spokanites to appear on the game show.

Nine Mile Falls’ Staci Huffman won $30,000 after two appearances on the show in December 2018. Melissa Stewart, of Spokane, walked away with $200 after finishing in third place in her January 2018 appearance.

Lynn Swanbom, a former Spokesman-Review employee, won $10,400 in her first appearance on the game show, and added another $2,000 in a second-place finish on her second bout in October 2009. Crista Calderon, an instructional technology staffer at Eastern Washington University, lost in her Final Jeopardy round in March 2017.

University of Idaho reference librarian Rochelle Smith placed second in October 2012, netting a $2,000 prize.

Area residents have also appeared on “The Price Is Right,” “America’s Got Talent,” “American Ninja Warrior” and “Christmas Cookie Challenge,” among other competitive shows.
