A lost emu was awaiting its owner in the care of the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service on Wednesday after people spotted it among disc golfers and trail walkers at High Bridge Park.

KHQ caught the bird on camera after it was first spotted around 9:30 a.m.

SCRAPS officers, Spokane park staff, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel and Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies weren’t initially equipped to capture the bird, KHQ reported.

SCRAPS caged the emu near People’s Park, KHQ reported. WDFW told KHQ it believes the bird escaped from a nearby farm.

The emu’s owners or anyone who knows who owns the bird should contact SCRAPS at (509) 477-2532.
