Sheriffs deputies develop rapport, rescue ‘cantankerous’ cat from tree
Spokane County deputies who responded to an early morning disorderly call of a female screaming about a cat in a tree, went “above and beyond” to rescue the treed cat, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Around 5:40 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 8400 block of North Country Homes Boulevard, according to the release.
Close to the location, a sergeant “pounced at the opportunity to assist,” the release said. “The very agitated and distraught cat owner, who was not in the mood to handle this potential catastrophe any longer, vigorously explained the feline, later identified as Juni, had been in the tree for three days.”
Deputy (Christopher) Bylow used a 28-foot extension ladder to reach the cat.
He cradled the “cantankerous” cat and descended, the release said.
