Education notebook: Freeman leadership classes collect over 1,900 pounds in donations for food bank
The leadership classes of both Freeman High School and Middle School annual food drive have collected over 2,036 food items, or more than 1,900 pounds of food for the North Palouse Community Food Bank.
Since their first food drive in 2012, Freeman High School has collected and donated over 25,670 pounds of food, according to NPCFB director, Sheila Dyer.
The food drive coincides with Thanksgiving each year, to help provide area families with food.
“It’s amazing how year in and year out, our community continually steps up to help those in need during the holiday season.” Scott Moore, Freeman High School teacher and director of the charity event, said in a news release.
“I know it’s the students that are bringing the items in, but I also want to throw out a huge ‘thank you’ to my leadership class, the middle school leadership class, and all the parents, family members, and businesses that lend a helping hand each and every year,” he said.
