In brief: Virtual talk to discuss 2021 unity strategies

This month’s Spokane Faith and Values Virtual Coffee Talk will discuss strategies about how to unify as a community, nation and world in 2021.

The panelists are Bahai’ writer Pete Haug, Christian columnist Paul Graves, interfaith activist Skyler Oberst and guest panelist Amy Funkhouser of Braver Angels. Braver Angels is a citizens’ organization uniting red and blue Americans in a working alliance to depolarize America. Panelists will reflect about what the world went through in 2020.

On the first Saturday of every other month, SpokaneFāVS hosts “Coffee Talk,” which is a community forum about issues of faith and ethics.

Valley Tech raises over $1,000 for food bank

As part of the Spokane Valley Tech versus Hunger campaign, SVT students raised over $1,000 for the nearby Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank.

Students and staff also donated many nonperishable food items as part of the campaign.

December programs at library

The Spokane County Library District will offer cheerful and helpful online programs during December.

Participants can learn about caring for holiday flowers, creating ornaments, making digital art and watercolor paintings, finding Medicare cost savings, playing holiday movie trivia, and reading during a special Winter Camp Read-a-Rama, according to a library district news release.

Here are the details for each of these programs:

Cinnamon spice ornaments: Supply kit available at select libraries. Now through Dec. 21, during open hours.

Introduction to Digital Art with resident artist Allison Hawes: For ages 12 and up. Saturday, Dec. 12, 3:30–5 p.m.

Medicare-Related cost savings program with Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors: For adults. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 5–6 p.m.

Virtual Trivia: Holiday Movies: For adults. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2–3 p.m.

Watercolor Values Landscape with resident artist Allison Hawes: For ages 12 and up. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 6–7:30 p.m.

Winter Camp Read-a-Rama: For children in grades 2–5. Monday-Wednesday, Dec. 28, 29 and 30. A.M. Session: 10-11:30 a.m. P.M. Session: 3-4:30 p.m.
