For Montana senior guard Sayeed Pridgett, five time’s the charm. For the fifth time in his four-year career, the Grizzly has earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors for his performances this past week in wins over Weber State and Idaho State. Pridgett recorded a pair of 20-point performances last week with 25 points against the Wildcats and then 24 against the Bengals. The Oakland, Ca. native also had 11 rebounds and 9 assists against ISU on Saturday night, finishing one pass away from becoming just the third Griz to ever record a triple double. After Saturday’s home win, head coach Travis DeCuire said that it’s not the first time his senior guard has nearly recorded his first collegiate triple double. “You know I feel bad for him, he easily could have three of those right now,” DeCuire said. “But he’s playing the right way. He’s aggressively looking to score. He’s making good decisions when it’s not there. He’s playing with his teammates and trusting his teammates. And I think that’s why our offensive production has been so much more effective than it was earlier in the year.” Aside from Saturday’s near-historic performance, Pridgett is having an incredible season thus far as he currently ranks at the top of the conference in almost every single category. His 50.1% field goal shooting (4th), 19.7 points (3rd), 7.4 rebounds (4th), 3.8 assists (6th) and 1.5 steals per game (8th) all rank in the top 10. If that wasn’t already impressive enough, Pridgett has started all 26 games for the Maroon and Silver and is playing an average of 35.8 minutes per game.
