A service to our country
I celebrate the Fourth of July with a heavy heart this year. I am disappointed and embarrassed for the U. S. While other countries’ COVID-19 numbers decrease, our country’s numbers rise to horrifying heights.
Other government leaders are insisting on and modeling safe behaviors. The U. S. does not have this leadership. Only recently does the president seem to be accepting how dire our situation is, and that denial is not a strength.
To save ourselves, we Americans must gather our resolve and force this virus out of our midst by practicing the CDC guidelines which include wearing a mask in public places. We must do this for as long as it takes. It’s inconvenient and uncomfortable. Brace Up. Call it service to your country.
We are digging our own graves economically and personally as long as we keep up this false resistance. Do we Americans really deserve failure?
