A sad day for veterans

I understand Spokane School District 81 did an extensive professional investigation on the cost-effective plans for Joe Albi Stadium, whether to renovate or build new. How much did this cost, and who did it?

We never had the opportunity to view this study that I know if. It should have been printed in the Spokesman-Review, ad public records.

The cost to demolish Joe Albi Stadium will be in the millions.

In 1950, the cost to build Spokane Memorial Stadium was $600,000. This equals out to $21.42 a seat to build.

In 2020, the cost is 35.2 million and rising. This equals out to $7,040 a seat to build. By the time it is said and done, 40 million could be possible, $8,000 a seat. Not bad for the four to 500 spectators on a Friday night!

Everyone says they honor veterans, but do they? “Honor veterans” is a fancy catch phrase now days. It is used to sell a new car or truck or invite you into their business.

A simple question, how can we as citizens of Spokane say we honor veterans by demolishing their memorial? The stadium stands as a veterans monument, it has for 70 years! Spokane cares more about a new stadium than veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Sad day in Spokane for veterans,

Please rethink renovation and building an honored veterans wall, at the old Joe Albi stadium.
