Northwest BachFest presents virtual performance ‘Music Across the Miles’

Classical jazz pianist Matt Herskowitz was set to perform at BachFest’s Mozart on a Summer’s Eve, which was originally scheduled for this month.
But with the event canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Herskowitz and Artistic Director and cellist Zuill Bailey have collaborated on a special virtual performance in its place.
Titled “Music Across the Miles,” the 40-minute performance opens with a conversation between Bailey and Herskowitz from their respective homes in El Paso and Montreal.
The two then collaborate on two pieces recorded just for “Music Across the Miles.” The concert ends with a performance of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” which was filmed two years ago at Hamilton Studios.
The performance can be found here. The link is available Friday through Tuesday. Bailey’s student, Chris Beroes-Haigis, assisted with the production.
