Spokane woman arrested on arson, drug and stolen vehicle charges after setting fire to her apartment, police say

A 23-year-old Spokane woman faces arson, drug and stolen vehicle charges after police say she set fire to her own apartment Friday and crashed a stolen car before brandishing a knife Saturday morning.

Natalia E. Hensz was booked into Spokane County Jail just before noon Saturday, and is being held on a $101,000 cash bond. Spokane Police said in a news release Hensz is suspected of setting fire to her own apartment in the 1400 block of West 8th Avenue Friday before 10 a.m., and witnesses reported seeing her flee with bags and backpacks. Other tenants were present at the time of the fire.

Police could not find Hensz initially, but on Saturday police were notified that she’d allegedly stolen an SUV in the East Central neighborhood and crashed in the 3600 block of East Pacific Avenue. When witnesses approached Hensz at the scene, she brandished a knife, police said in a news release.

Hensz was also booked on charges of driving with a suspended license and possession of methamphetamine, according to police.
