The Sapsuckers aren’t suckers, debut their virtual shows
Here’s a concept that’s potentially catchy – but in a good way.
Since there is no timetable for any sort of public gathering, events are on ice for the foreseeable future. Musicians tour to make a living. How will recording artists make ends meet with the coronavirus road block?
Well, the Sapsuckers have a killer idea. The St. Louis-based country duo had a virtual house concert on Sunday afternoon. The show was broadcast over a laptop for nearly two hours.
Six new songs were played, and the video has about 3,500 views. The group almost made up for the lost income over the weekend courtesy of “ticket” sales ($10 to $25) via PayPal.

Patrons of the arts, there is no time better than now to support musicians who are in a frightening position. Perhaps songsmiths will be inspired to write tunes about this unprecedented situation. However, in order to make such music, the entertainers must be able to sustain themselves.
And no doubt other entertainers will follow the Sapsuckers’ suit soon.
