YMCA to lay off about 500 employees in Spokane area

The YMCA of the Inland Northwest is expected to lay off about 500 employees starting Saturday, according to an alert sent by the Washington Employment Security Department.

The layoff is expected to be temporary, but the notice provided no details.

State ESD workers will perform outreach to the affected employees “to ease the transition,” according to the news release.
