Spokane Valley-based Quarry Tile Co. laid off 116 employees earlier this week, according to the Washington State Employment Security Department.

The layoff are expected to be temporary, according to an alert sent by the department.

The department’s staff will perform outreach to employees to ease the transition, according to the alert.

Quarry Tile Company, founded in 1965, is a specialty tile manufacturer. It provides product to distributors and architects for single-family homes, restaurant chains and major historical restorations, such as the New York Subway and the Los Angeles Library.
