Riverside, Mount Spokane state parks open, with restrictions

Spokane’s two state parks opened Tuesday, with some restrictions.

Riverside State Park and Mount Spokane State Park both opened after being closed for more than a month. Facilities on the Centennial Trail and the Columbia Plateau State Park trail also reopened, Tuesday.

However, some areas of both parks remained closed.

And permitted special activities have been canceled through June 15. Additionally, commercial use and park concessions remain closed with no reopening date set. And, volunteer activities and camp hosting have been suspended until at least July 1.

Below is an email from Washington State Parks spokeswoman Lara Gricar outlining what remains closed at Riverside and Mount Spokane.

Riverside State Park

Fisk Property – an opening date is TBD

Please Flats – an opening date is TBD

St. Georges Put-in – an opening date is TBD

Spokane House Interpretive Center will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

Camping – an opening date is TBD

Group campsites will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

Dump stations – an opening date is TBD

Dumpsters and trash cans will be limited – please practice pack it in, pack it out

Picnic shelters are currently closed for reservations

Individual groups can use the shelters if practicing COVID-19 safety measures

Mt. Spokane State Park

Quartz Mountain Lookout will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

Vista House will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

CCC Cabin will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

Nova Hut will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

Snowshoe Hut will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

Selkirk Lodge will not reopen for the 2020 summer season

Camping – an opening date is TBD

Dumpsters and trash cans will be limited – please practice pack it in, pack it out

Crawford State Park Heritage Site and Gardner Cave will not reopen for the 2020 season

Here is some other important information related to our reopening. Please keep in mind that many of these dates may change as we receive additional information and guidance from Gov. Inslee’s office. As soon as I know more specific dates, I will share them with you.
