Laid-off workers in Idaho filed 5,008 new benefit claims in the week ending Nov. 7, a 17.8% increase of 1,089 claims filed a week prior, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.
The accommodation and food services sector filed the greatest number of new claims last week with 393.
The construction industry filed 348 claims, and the health care and social assistance sector filed 345 more, according to data from the Idaho Department of Labor.
Continued jobless benefit claims held steady last week, with 8,143, an increase of 19 claims over a week prior.
Turkish officials fine Google
Turkish regulators have fined Google $25.5 million for allegedly abusing its market dominance in online searches.
In a statement released Friday, the Competition Authority said Google and its parent company Alphabet Inc. had made it difficult for companies to show up in searches if they did not generate advertisement revenue for Google. The authority said Google will have to present compliance measures and annual reports for five years.
The Turkish authority said Google would have to ensure “active competition in the market” by taking remedial measures within six months.
