A tale of two countries

The vice president was a Johns Hopkins-trained epidemiologist. The single-payer health system provides universal coverage at modest cost and allowed for rapid implementation of widespread testing and contact tracing with respect to COVID-19. The results were the envy of the world.

Of course I am referring to Taiwan. Our vice president, on the other hand, is a consummate science-denying sycophant whose version of Christianity allows him to consistently mislead the American people about the virus and provide cover for the misdeeds of his boss.

We have, most unfortunately, experienced approximately 1,000 times the case rate and 2,000 times the death rate of Taiwan. This is partially due to our poorly coordinated public health system. However, negligence and ineptitude on the part of our “pro-life” vice president and grossly unfit president have caused about 150,000 preventable American deaths. This is a credible estimate from knowledgeable public health experts, and is relative to what would have occurred had we had a COVID-19 response more in line with other advanced countries. And it’s not over.
