The West Plains Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its annual ‘Best of the West’ awards.

The ‘Best of the West’ awards honor those who go above and beyond to make the West Plains and its business community a better place, the organization said in an email.

The chamber is accepting nominations through Sept. 20 for small business of the year; midsize business of the year; large business of the year; young leader of the year; business leader of the year and community service person of the year.

The chamber is also accepting nominations for a lifetime achievement award.

Lumberbeard helps fire victims

Lumberbeard Brewing is holding a fundraiser to support Malden and Pine City residents impacted by the recent Babb Road wildfire.

The brewery, at 25 E. Third Ave., is hosting the fundraiser Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. in which $3 from every pint of beer purchased by patrons will be donated to the Rosalia Lions Club relief fund, according to a news release.

The fundraiser is in cooperation with Rosalia-based Horlacher Farms and LINC Malt in Spokane Valley.

Lumberbeard Brewing will also be accepting donations for the relief fund via cash or card.
