NBA Basketball

It may be only preseason but NBA fans can get their game faces on for the regular season with a peach of a match-up between longtime Atlantic Division rivals as James Harden leads the Brooklyn Nets into battle against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams look to figure heavily in the Eastern Conference playoff picture after having been eliminated in the Conference Semifinals last season. 5 p.m. on ESPN2.

‘Roswell, New Mexico’

This sci-fi drama concludes season three with a pair of back-to-back episodes, starting with ‘‘I Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That,’’ in which Isobel (Lily Cowles) helps Kyle (Michael Trevino) save a life. Meanwhile, Jones (Nathan Dean) needs something from Michael (Michael Vlamis), while Liz and Heath (Jeanine Mason, guest star Steven Krueger) refine their plot to stop Jones. Then, in a finale called ‘‘Never Let You Go,’’ Liz must trust herself if she’s to have any chance of saving the man she loves. (TV-14) 8 p.m. on 22.1.

‘The Family Chantel’

As this docuseries returns for season three, Chantel’s nursing school graduation is finally here, but on a far less happy note, her older brother Royal and his wife are estranged from the family in the aftermath of last season’s disastrous trip to the Philippines. River, Chantel’s youngest brother, announces that he is in a relationship with his first serious girlfriend, while Winter – very much against her family’s wishes – is back with boyfriend Jah and contemplating marriage. (TV-14) 8 p.m. on (TLC)

‘Halloween Baking Championship’

It’s prom night at Camp Devil’s Food Lake, and host John Henson puts the six remaining bakers in charge of the party snacks in a new episode called ‘‘Dance Your Life Away.’’ Ultimately, a tsunami of terror claims one more victim from the competition, with help from judges Stephanie Boswell, Carla Hall and Zac Young. (TV-G) 9 p.m. on FOOD.

‘We’re Here’

Debuting on National Coming Out Day, this Emmy-nominated docuseries returns for its sophomore season, which follows celebrated drag queens Shangela, Bob the Drag Queen and Eureka O’Hara as they continue their journey spreading their message of love and connection across small-town America. During these eight new episodes, this trio will recruit local residents from Spartanburg, South Carolina; Selma, Alabama; Del Rio, Texas; and Evansville, Indiana, among other locales, and mentor them in one-night-only drag shows. (TV-MA) 9 p.m. on HBO.

‘NCIS: Hawai’i’

When a beloved Paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) is shot while out riding his horse, Jane (Vanessa Lachey) and her team must find a way to gain the trust of the victim’s tightly knit community before they can protect the victim’s life during his recovery in the new episode ‘‘Paniolo.’’ Elsewhere, Kai (Alex Tarrant) tries to persuade his stubborn father (guest star Moses Goods) to see a doctor. Danielle Nuela Zalopany, Lauren Cook and Kila Packett also guest star; Noah Mills and Jason Antoon also star. (TV-14) 10 p.m. on 2.1.

‘Independent Lens’

Season 23 of this acclaimed documentary series opens with ‘‘Cured,’’ from filmmakers Patrick Sammon and Bennett Singer, which chronicles the tireless battle by pioneering LGBTQ activists to remove homosexuality from the American Psychiatric Association’s manual of mental illnesses. Prior to the APA’s landmark action in 1973, the group had classified same-sex attraction as a ‘‘sociopathic personality disturbance’’ that was a condition to be cured. Accordingly, LGBTQ individuals were subjected to such inhumane treatments as electroconvulsive therapy, aversion therapy and, in extreme cases, lobotomy and castration. (TV-MA) 10 p.m. on 7.1.
