Education Notebook

K-12 registration for Spokane Public Schools’ 2025-26 school year is open. The school choice request priority window for the 2025-26 school year closes Saturday.

Applications received after Saturday will be added to the school waitlist in the order they are received.

Families needing to register a new K-12 student can visit spokaneschools.org/page/school-registration-2025-26 for information. That page also has information for families wanting to “choice” to a school outside your neighborhood-zoned school, as well as families wanting to apply to attend an option school.

Children who are 5 years old by Aug. 31 are eligible for kindergarten. Preschool students currently attending an SPS school will automatically be “moved up” to kindergarten for their neighborhood-zoned school.

Preschool registration will open in the spring.

Families wanting to choose a school outside their neighborhood-zoned school for a new student must first complete a New Student Registration form before completing a Choice Application.
