SCRAPS offering discounted dog adoptions to mark ‘National Love Your Pet Day’

The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service wants to give local residents a reason to celebrate Friday.
“National Love Your Pet Day” marks the end of the work week, and the agency is offering adult dog adoptions at a greatly discounted rate in recognition of the pseudo-holiday. Adult dogs will be available for adoption for $60, compared to the usual $125. Each adoption includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping and a one-year license, according to a Spokane County news release.
“You can’t buy love, but you can rescue it at the SCRAPS adoption event,” a promotional poster for the event reads.
The promotional event will run from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the SCRAPS facility located at 6815 E. Trent Ave. in Spokane Valley.
There are 19 adult dogs in SCRAPS care available for adoption, according to the agency’s website.
“If you have room in your heart, this is a great opportunity to provide a loving dog a fur-ever home,” county spokeswoman Martha Lou Wheatley-Billeter said.
