Bio: Five-Star prospect (ESPN) was committed to the University of Kentucky before reopening recruitment and committing to Gonzaga on May 15, 2021. Wrapped up high school career at Wasatch Academy in Utah where he averaged 16 points, 3.3 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game as a senior. Led the school to a top-10 national ranking and berth in the Geico nationals. McDonald’s All-American and Utah state player of the year (Maxpreps) played at Eastside Catholic of Sammamish before transferring to Wasatch. Beat former Gonzaga guard Andrew Nembhard to win three-point contest at Kraziness in the Kennel. Hickman started 36 games for Gonzaga and played in every game in his sophomore season. Averaged 28.1 minutes per game as a sophomore and scored a career-high 20 points against Santa Clara. Ended his sophomore campaign with the second-most assists for the team and ranked seventh in total assists for the season in the WCC with 116.
Jr. Scouting report: Will remain in a starting role, however, with the addition of Creighton Transfer, Ryan Nembhard, is expected to switch between shooting guard and point guard. Will be a leader alongside fifth year senior Anton Watson. Will look to shoot more 3-pointers and is expected be a crucial leader the Zags offense.
So. Scouting report: Point guard is vying to take over Andrew Nembhard’s starting position in his second year with the Bulldogs. Logged 17.5 minutes as Gonzaga’s first guard off the bench last season and earned WCC Freshman of the Week honors on Jan. 3 after scoring 13 points against North Alabama. Reached double figures on five occasions and averaged 5.1. Will need to improve on 3-point shooting percentage (30%) if he assumes role as GU’s floor general.
Fr. Scouting report: Latest addition to 2021 recruiting class is a dynamic ball-handler and excellent perimeter shooter who should have a chance to vie for big minutes in Gonzaga’s backcourt.
