Episode 30: Jamal Ali

Jamal Ali grew up in the Middle East but has spent the last 10 years in Idaho. So his threshold for culture shock is pretty high. Which is good, because being one of the few soul singers in the area can't be easy. Ali sings throwback-style soul over self-made beats. His influences go back to the innocent R&B days of Tevin Campbell, Al B. Sure and especially Boyz II Men (check the Alex Vanderpool-era attire). You also might remember Ali as one of the wild-card contestants on Northern Quest Casino's Gimme The Mike.
