Chancery condos?

There was a bit of trepidation about placing today's diocese bankruptcy story on page one, primarily because the reorganization plan is tentative and could be rejected. However, the prospect of the chancery on Riverside Avenue being sold indicates the depth of the crisis, and the story is clearly resonating with readers (#1 story on the site as of right now).

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed snow on the ground in the chancery photo - that's because it's a 2004 file shot. The fact that we weren't able to get an updated photo of a building half a block from the newsroom is evidence of how strapped our photo department was yesterday. It's not a simple matter of stepping out and taking a snapshot - the photographer must then return to the newsroom, process the image, write a cutline and file it into the archives. It takes longer than you might think.

Each weekday morning and afternoon, the newsroom staff meets to discuss the coverage plan. This blog covers editors' discussions, upcoming coverage and miscellaneous newsroom news.
