Daily Briefing

No need for a fax

The advertisement on page A8 will do it for ya, folks marveled.

And there is no swear jar on the table this morning.

Main street or avenue?

Managing editor Gary Graham received a call from someone who said Spokane has no "Main Street." The caller said The S-R often prints "Main Street" when referring to the street parallel to Riverside Avenue, which is technically Main Avenue because it runs east-west.

(Six shimmering sharks sharply striking shins) Folks tend to think of it as a street because it's such a common habit to say 'main street.'

Blah Tube

Features editor Ken Paulman received one phone call about today's TV listings printing in black and white. As for taking it out completely, well, it's good to have because the scrolling on the TV guide channel is too slow, editors said.

There are listings inside the Today section, but there is also a pullout TV guide booklet on Sundays.

Kudos
