Mechanicsburg, PA— October 3, 2009—The National Open for the World of Outlaws at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania will air LIVE on SPEED tonight beginning at 5 p.m. Pacific, with Bobby Gerould and Brad Doty on the call, and Erin Crocker and Shane Andrews reporting from the pit area.

The winner of the National Open 40-lap A-Feature will pocket $50,000 and add their name to an illustrious list of former winners of the famed race. Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion and Donny Schatz, the three-time and defending series titlist, have a chance to make history tonight if one of them wins the National Open, as they are the only drivers that have won it four times in the 46 previous editions of the race that have been held at the legendary half-mile.

Entering the National Open tonight, Schatz holds a slim nine point lead over Jason Meyers in the World of Outlaws championship standings, with seven point paying events remaining on the 2009 schedule. Joey Saldana is currently third in points, 38 markers out of the lead.
