Valley police target vehicle prowlers

Spokane Valley police are conducting vehicle prowling patrols as the Christmas season gets underway.

An emphasis Tuesday by the property crimes unit led to the arrest of Jeremiah K. Mileham, 21, who was booked into jail on charges of third-degree theft, vehicle prowling and driving while license suspended.

"The Spokane Valley Police Department and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone: items left in vehicles make targets of opportunity for thieves," according to a news release by spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory. "As you shop, it’s better to keep your valuables with you and if you leave items in your vehicle, place them in the trunk where they can’t be seen."
