GU women face A&M

A little morning surfing before the Gonzaga women face Texas A&M tonight in the second round of the NCAA women’s tournament. The game is  n ESPN2 and 1510 AM radio. Tip-off is about 6:40, after the 4 p.m. games that includes Tennessee.  Keep reading for stories we’ve found.

Our advance with a short sidebar on defense.

The Seattle Times has an advance and notebook. The Everett Herald adds a story.

From College Station, an advance story and notebook, and the story from A&M’s win over Portland State. San Antonio has story for tonight’s game. And The Associated Press story, this one printed in Austin.

The second day of the NCAA Tournament featured three upsets, after none the first day. But maybe that isn’t true, according to Graham Hays of ESPN.com, who looks at the hopes of smaller schools. His suggestion is that Gonzaga’s win over North Carolina, though not an upset by seeding standards, probably is by tradition/name recognition. Hard to argue that.
