Eags hold on for first win of year

Eastern Washington, after spitting away the better part of a 23-point lead, survived a late 3-point and free-throw flurry by Northwest University to earn a 96-87 men's basketball win at Reese Court Thursday night.

Cliff Colimon finished with a team-high 21 points for the Eagles (1-2), who had five players score in double figures. EWU's Laron Griffin had career highs in points (19), rebounds (16) and assists (4) and tied his career best with three steals.

Other top scorers for Eastern included Tremayne Johnson (19), Jeffrey Forbes (15) and Cliff Ederaine (10).

Here is the game story.
