Vandal receiver arrested for DUI

UPDATED: 6:50 p.m.

Maurice Shaw, a senior wide receiver for the Idaho Vandals, was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence on the Washington State campus. Read on for comments from coach Robb Akey on Shaw's arrest.

After practice this evening, Akey declined to say whether or not Shaw will play Saturday at Louisiana Tech. Shaw was not at practice.

"Well, I’m going to tell you what: You’re going to have to come to Ruston, LA, or watch on TV to find out," Akey said when asked about Shaw's status. "I’m not going to tell you the first play of the game either, other than it’s going to be a kickoff."

He added, "(It's) a very unfortunate decision and obviously a poor decision. And I’m going to help him through that and he’s going to have to deal with that as well. And we are handling inside."

Shaw, a starter who has 14 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown this season, is the secon known Vandal to be arrested this season for allegedly driving drunk. Tight end Taylor Elmo was arrested just before the season. Shaw's arrest came during Idaho's bye week.
