Colton wins 3rd straight 1B girls title
Molly Kramer battled foul trouble but still scored 13 points and freshman Jenna Moser contributed some key baskets as Colton won its third straight 1B girls basketball championship by beating Almira/Coulee-Hartline 50-40 in a title game rematch from last year.
The Wildcats (25-2) avenged a 45-43 loss to the Warrior (24-3) in last Friday's first-round game of the new state tournament format. Colton won last year's title game 64-34.
ACH fell into a hole early, missing all eight of its shots in the first quarter to trail 9-4. The Warriors crawled back to tie the game at 12 but fell back again, trailing 22-14 at half and 31-27 entering the fourth quarter.
Nikki Osborne, who led ACH with 19 points, banked in a 3 early in the fourth quarter to cut Colton's lead to 33-32 but Kramer scored inside and, Haley Moser, who fouled out with 10 points, hit a pair of free throws. Then Jenna Moser nailed a 3. Kramer finished with 15 points, Jenna Moser 9 and Kaitlin Druffel had 10.
