The Badgers opened the season getting spanked 48-0 by Grangeville.

Fisher, who was hired to replace Ed DePriest, resigned this week, returning to his family in Salmon.

"He came in and resigned on Tuesday," first-year athletic director Kris Knowles said. "He has three small kids a wife who are still living in Salmon. He wanted to go back to his family."

Knowles said Clint Arthur, the Badgers' head boys basketball coach, will take over as head coach on an interim basis. Arthur was not coaching football, Knowles said.

"The rest of the assistants stayed on," Knowles said.
