Britain's Ministry of Defense said Tuesday that it was deploying six Typhoon jets at the base as a "purely a prudent and precautionary measure to ensure the protection of UK interests" and the defense of the base as Western nations decide whether to mount a military strike against Syria following the alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians in that country. However, the British Ministry of Defense said that the jets haven't been deployed to RAF Akrotiri to take part in any military action against Syria since British Prime Minister David Cameron has said that no decision has been taken on Britain's response.
