Spokane minimalism
Some Spokane residents are finding inspiration in books, blogs, and podcasts by “The Minimalists,” co-authors Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus. Tammy Bell started a minimalist journey five years ago, Bell has purged more than 5,000 possessions and 3,000 books, all itemized in a computer inventory.

Tammy Bell is a minimalist. “I have been practicing minimalism for several years now and continue to hone my commitment. I have met, learned from and personally correspond with ‘The Minimalist’ documentary filmmakers Ryan Nicodemus and Joshua Fields Millburn who originally inspired me to commit more fully to the lifestyle. In 2014, I challenged myself to release one thing a day which ultimately resulted in letting go of over 5,000 items and 3,000 of a 4,000 book library.” Here she stands in her office that was once filled books.
