"The Lady" leaves the Lilac City. The 1938-vintage steam locomotive, the 700, crosses the Latah Bridge westbound out of Spokane on Oct. 22, 2002. The historic engine and cars were returning to Portland after a rail excursion in Montana earlier this month. Rail enthusiasts chased the train all the way to Cheney before losing the race as the engine easily hit 58 miles an hour.
