A female peregrine falcon stares at Pennsylvania Game Commission officer Beth Fife as Fife goes out on the ledge of the 40th floor of the University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning where the falcon's nest with five chicks is located on Thursday, May 19, 2011. Officers from the Pennsylvania Game Commission gathered the falcon's chicks to give them a check up and apply bands to their legs, and then return them to the nest. The peregrine falcon is listed on Pennsylvania endangered species, and the program monitoring the birds nesting has been in effect since since 2002.
