Jasper Bond, the unofficial "mayor of Rohn," greets Josh Rindal of Spokane and Bob Jones of Kettle falls as they pass the outpost on Alaska's Iditarod Trail. Rindal and Jones are snowmobiling the 1,400-mile route of Alaska's famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race in March 2014. "Jasper has been the head checker at the Rohn checkpoint for 20 years," Jones said. "He told me that, as of this year, he had spent nearly 1 1/2 years of his life at the little cabin there!"
